Naval Biographical Database Organisations
	Recorded under this heading are such diverse organisations as the 'Fleet' or the 'Office of the Controller' or the 'Admiralty Staff'.   Just as ships changed their names, so did organisations and their post-holders.  Take for example the Secretary of the Admiralty whose title alternated between Secretary and First Secretary throughout the 18th Century. To avoid undue fragmentation of reports, some rationalisation has been essential.  In the above example, the relevant report will be headed 'Secretary of the Admiralty', with the actual title being recorded on the database.  © CHD 2010
